Interview with Mike Schlossberg of LeighValleyChamber.com – “We use Social Media, because the times require it and we have to evolve!”

LeighValleyChamber.comPlease introduce yourself and your website.
Hi! I’m Mike Schlossberg, Assistant Vice President for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Our website is lehighvalleychamber.org.

We also have a blog , a Facebook page, a Twitter feed, a YouTube channel and a LinkedIn Group.

What was the biggest success so far?
Well, it depends on how you define success. We have used Social Media to recruit new members and retain existing ones. We’ve also communicated with portions of the Lehigh Valley community that we have never connected with before.

To quote Tony Iannelli, who is the President & CEO of The Chamber, “This is not your father’s Chamber.” We use Social Media, and have dedicated staff and financial resources to it, because the times require it and we have to evolve or cease to exist.

We have also held multiple training courses for our members in how to use Social Media – this has helped them get used to this field, and help use generate revenue. (weiterlesen…)

My name is Kent Lewis, and I’m president of Anvil Media (www.anvilmediainc.com) and Formic Media (www.formicmedia.com), two search engine and social media marketing agencies.  Formic specializes in providing SEM & social marketing services to small, local and emerging businesses, while Anvil focuses on enterprise-level clients like Real Networks and Borders Books.

Why did you start it, what was the biggest success so far?
I started Anvil Media in fall of 2000 as an Internet Marketing consultancy. I hired my first full-time employees in 2004 and our team is currently at 12, with 40+ clients. I believe Anvil’s biggest success thus far has been achieving a Fastest Growing Company in Portland the past two years, despite having no dedicated sales team or marketing budget. (weiterlesen…)

I started my journey because my lease was running up on my Ft. Lauderdale highrise, and I get bored easily. Rather than renew my lease, I decided to travel around the country, completely based on “Who’s couch am I crashing on next?”. The website just seemed like a logical extension to the journey. Interview with Chris from Blippitt.com – “How we made it into the Alexa Top 50,000 websites in the world within a year!”

Blippitt.com
Please introduce yourself and your website. Why did you start it?
My name is Chris Monty and I run www.Blippitt.com. Our blog is all about Celebrity & Entertainment News. I started it because I believe that there is a world of opportunity in the online arena. This is like a new “gold rush” for those who take action now. If you have a passion, start blogging about it now!

Chris, money makes the world go round. Tell us, how do you make money?
We make money by selling ad space on our site to advertisers through the use of advertising networks like Google Adsense and ADSDAQ. We also dabble in affiliate marketing by recommending products related to our blog posts that can be found on Amazon.com. Once a visitor clicks through your Amazon link, they are “cookied” for the next 24 hours, so you get credit for anything they purchase on Amazon within that time frame (usually something like 5% of the purchase price). It’s not much, but it adds up quickly.

Can you tell us some basic data (how many posts, when did you go live, visitors, subscribers )?
Blippitt actually went online in July, 2008 (weiterlesen…)
